Mental Gymnastics: Silver Linings Playbook vs The Skeleton Twins

In this episode, I compare two dramedies about mental illness - one is a beautiful movie with an incredible cast that deserved a million Oscars and the other is a movie called Silver Linings Playbook. The one that deserves your respect and praise is The Skeleton Twins, and by the end of this episode you'd better have rented or purchased a copy. 

Also, I get into my oft-discussed hatred for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, it's the opposite feeling of the true and real love I feel for my girl Gwyneth Paltrow.

Ocean's 8 is everything I could have ever wanted in a film. It's a perfect expansion of Ocean's Eleven and the Ocean's Universe (which I believe will one day rival the MCU). While I loved Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's 8 is now my favorite in the franchise. Two very different tales of home invasion: lighthearted bumbling robbers try to bust in on Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone and a slightly more organized team terrorizes Gabrielle Union in Breaking In. Breaking In is basically a superior reverse retelling of Home Alone and you should see it ASAP.

A Whole New World: Elf vs George of the Jungle

If I'm going to watch a man-child try to impress a girl in the big city, I prefer one in a loincloth. Everyone loses their minds over Will Ferrell in Elf but we need to acknowledge the hunkiness and fun of Brendan Fraser in George of the Jungle. 

Body Snatchers: The Thing vs The Faculty

The Thing is a so-called classic horror film starring Goldie Hawn's husband and some other old dudes. The Faculty is a tour de force of perfect casting, clever writing, and some real scares. If I was in charge of Hollywood, I would implement a law that required every film to star Jordana Brewster and any offenders would be sent into the La Brea Tar Pit.
